Hey sis…my fb is set to automatically play videos and I recently saw a most unfortunate one of a girl getting awakened by a group of men. Her hair was a mess, she was in her bra and panties, her skin was ashen, and she seemed spaced/drugged/out of it. They giggled in pure delight as they told her she had to go. They had all raped her, and when they were finished with her, they kicked her out.
My heart continued to break into tinier, more distraught pieces when I read the comments, most of which shared the “She deserved it hahaha” sentiment. I had to log off with tears in my eyes as I saw most of the comments came from women.
Without knowing this girl’s (and she was a GIRL) story, everyone was quick to think her rape was what she deserved. No one bothered to look into this girl’s eyes and see the hurt and the emptiness. What happened that was so awful in these commentator’s lives, that they had become so desensitized to others pain? Let’s pray that our hearts never get that hard. And for those that may be, that God will soften it. God has called us to be better women then that! Am I my sister’s keeper? Yes. And she deserves my compassion…
